Today first deputy governor of the Murmansk region Alexey Tyukavin held a protocol meeting with Consul General of India in St. Petersburg Mr Arun Kumar Sharma. Alexey Tyukavin noted that most actively Murmansk region traditionally has been cooperating within the Barents region. However recently interest from the Asia-Pacific region towards the Kola North has been growing as well. In recent past Murmansk region has received delegations from Japan, China and Korea. Current meeting is yet another one confirmation of the fact that bilateral Russian-Indian relations are on the rise. Mr Consul General mentioned that his visit is aimed at finding out what possibilities for cooperation Murmansk region has in the fields of culture, business and trade. Mr Sharma pointed out that a number of Russian regions have been successful in implementation joint projects with India in the pharmaceutical and textile industries. Alexey Tyukavin invited representatives of the Indian business to take part in the events of the Murmansk international business week.
