The formation and implementation of social policy belongs to the powers of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the Murmansk region
Social policy in the region is aimed at:
- organization of social service activities for the population;
- organization of the provision of social support measures to citizens;
- establishment of guardianship over adult incapacitated citizens;
- provision of social assistance to certain categories of citizens;
- labor protection and social and labor relations;
- promotion of employment of the population;
- support of non-governmental, socially oriented non-profit organizations operating in the fields of social services and social protection of citizens.
Institutions of social protection of the population of the Murmansk region
The network of institutions subordinate to the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the Murmansk region includes:
- 8 centers of social support of the population;
- 5 inpatient social service institutions for elderly and disabled citizens;
- 1 inpatient social service institution for disabled children;
- 1 specialized institution for minors in need of social rehabilitation;
- 1 center for social assistance to families and children;
- 14 integrated social service centers;
- 1 employment center (14 personnel centers).
The register of social service providers of the Murmansk region includes 27 non-governmental organizations of social services for the population.
