The project started in 2011 in frames of «Kolarctic ENPI CBC» program. Authorities, scientific institutions, fishery enterprises of Russia, Finland and Norway acted as participants of the project. The target of the project was to make the common research and work out recommendations on sustainable usage and scientific-based management of the Arctic salmon reserves on the territory of the Murmansk region, Nordland, Troms and Finnmark. During the project implementation the data on the genetic singularity of the Atlantic salmon based on results of the DNA research were taken into consideration in order to determine its migration flows and exclusiveness to this or that place of origin as well as influence of climate change on the salmon population.
