These weekends the Governor of the Murmansk region Marina Kovtun and the Chairman of the Regional Department of the Russian Society for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled Larisa Ryabysheva have lighted the Paralympic Cauldron at the Five Corners’ Square. Marina Kovtun expressed her hopes for the glory of Russia during the Paralimpic games as it used to be during the Olympic games in Sochi: “Russia can win and can build! And we can support in such a way that our sportsman win!”. The Governor made an emphasis that attitude towards disabled people is an indicator of authorities efficiency and society maternity. Programs “Barrier free Environment for disabled people” and “Accessible sport” are being successfully implemented in the region. All the sport facilities are being equipped due to needs of disabled people. For example, two sport centers equipped with the abovementioned facilities were put into operatioin in Kola and in Monchegorsk. The Ice Palace is also fitted with them. “It is planned to build 57 sports objects with “barrier free environment” till the 2015. Nothing should limit disabled people in their wish to do sports”, has told M.Kovtun.
