The IV International Forum "The Arctic: Present and Future" takes place in the St. Petersburg under the auspices of the inter-regional public organization "Association of polar explorers". Marina Kovtun and delegation of the Murmansk region take part in the debate on sustainable development of natural resources, socio-economic problems of the Arctic territories, the development of transport capacity and energy sector of the Arctic, environmental safety, and preserving the cultural and historical heritage of dvellers of the North. The Agreement on Cooperation between the Russian Geographical Society and the Government of the Murmansk Region was signed these days as well. During the second day of the forum particiopants discussed a socio-economic development of the Russian Arctic regions. More than 500 delegates from 30 regions of Russia and 20 foreign countries have visited the Forum.
