Chief Veterinary Officer of Norway Kristina Landsverk visited Murmansk to take part in the 3rd international conference “Fishery in the Arctic: modern challenges, international practices and prospects” and in the meeting of joint Russian-Norwegian working group on aquaculture development on cross-border territories. On March 16 first Vice-Governor Alexey Tyukavin held a meeting with Kristina Landsverk. In the opening remarks, Alexey Tyukavin noted that strengthening of cooperation between Murmansk region and Norway is of high priority for the region. “We have been experiencing fruitful economic cooperation including one in the aquaculture. This sort of economic activity is relatively new for us while it’s been successfully developed in Norway for more than 50 years. In this regard we do appreciate the possibility to exchange experience with our neighbors,” stressed Alexey Tyukavin. Kristina Landsverk briefly described the way Norwegian Food Safety Authority works, which deals with safety of products both for internal and external food markets. During the meeting attention was also paid to aquaculture development in Murmansk region.
