The first mobile festival of the regional cuisine “Taste of the Arctic” was held on December 22, 2018 at the foot of the Khibiny Mountains. A united team, which includes restaurateurs and chefs, presented a menu consisting of the products of the Barents Sea and the Arctic delicacies. The festival had been organized within the Federal project of Federal tourism Agency “Gastronomic map of Russia”.
Ski holidays’ high season started with the launch of the regional menu. The mobile food court "Taste of the Arctic" was situated in a zone “Folk tasting of first courses”. At the festival guests tried the street versions of the dishes of the Arctic cuisine.
"The Murmansk region is a storehouse of our country. I am talking not only about minerals and marine resources, but also about recreational opportunities: there are unique places and delicious local cuisine. I am grateful to the Governor of the Murmansk region and the companies that support such projects", – said the Head of the Department of state tourism projects and tourism safety of the Federal Agency for tourism Evgeny Kudelya.
The festival program included a presentation of the travel book “Country at the table”. The Murmansk region has its own spread in the publication. Here are recipes for cod under the fruity cloudberry sauce and mincemeat herring.
The next similar festival in the Murmansk region is planned to be held in Teriberka in summer.
