The Deputy Governor of the Murmansk region Roman Duryagin met with the Consul General of the Netherlands in St. Petersburg Lionel Weir. The Deputy head of the region noted that visits of representatives of the Dutch diplomatic and business communities to Murmansk are carried out on a regular basis. Delegations of the Consulate General participated in the events of the Murmansk International Business Week, international conferences held in the Murmansk Region.
"All that speaks of your country's interest in the developing cooperation with our region, and bearing in mind that the Netherlands is an observer country in such organizations as the Arctic Council and the Barents Euro-Arctic Council – in the developing of the Arctic as a whole," Roman Duryagin said.
The Dutch diplomat noted that he was glad to come to Murmansk in 2019, year marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of twinning ties between the polar Murmansk and the most northern city of the Netherlands Groningen.
At the meeting issues of economic, sports and culture cooperation were discussed.
