The Deputy Governor Evgeny Nikora held a working meeting on the Arctic development with the delegation of the Norwegian Parliament headed by Eirik Sivertsen. Norwegian parliamentarians come to the Murmansk region for a study visit.
Evgeny Nikora noted that the Murmansk region as the Arctic region attracts attention of many countries due to the increased interest of the world community to the Arctic and the Northern sea route. Meetings with the foreign partners take place regularly. Close interregional cooperation has been established with Norway, especially with its northern counties in such areas as education, culture, health care and tourism.
«This relationship has a long and solid foundation. There are very serious prospects for working together not only in existing, but also in new directions. According to the development of large investment projects in the Murmansk region our Norwegian partners get additional opportunities to participate in their implementation on a competitive basis» Evgeny Nikora noted.
The chairman of the delegation on the Arctic parliamentary cooperation Eirik Sivertsen expressed confidence in the need to continue the dialogue that has been established between representatives of the Norwegian Storting and the Murmansk region.
