The 5th International scientific conference «Arctic: history and modernity» starts in Murmansk

The 5th international scientific conference «Arctic: history and modernity» was launched in Murmansk. The event is organized by Murmansk state technical university and Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. The Deputy Governor Roman Duryagin took part in the conference.

The Deputy Governor noted that strategic documents relating to the development of the Arctic should be accepted this year at the state level. Favorable conditions for business, improving the quality of life of citizens are put at the forefront in those documents.

The first session of the conference was held on April 17-18 in St. Petersburg. The Murmansk session is to be held held on April 23-24. The event was attended by representatives of public authorities, management of leading industry companies and research organizations of Russia, Norway, Sweden and Finland.

The conference as an international communication platform is intended to provide a constructive dialogue and exchange of the best practices in the field of effective development of the Arctic. Participants of the session discussed issues of development of mineral resources in the Arctic, biological resources of the Arctic ecosystems, resource saving technologies in the Northern regions, protection of the environment and techno sphere safety, economics and management in the North.
