On August 2, 2019 the barque Sedov called the port of Murmansk. Aboard there were 111 cadets from maritime colleges of Murmansk, Arkhangelsk, Astrakhan, Kaliningrad and Saint Petersburg.
This is the first time the legendary barque arrived to the former homeport since 2015. Two years ago in accordance with the Federal Agency for Fishery regulation Kaliningrad was to homeport the barque.
This year owing to acting Governor Andrey Chibis first-hand initiative students of the Murmansk State Technical University once again can join the barque’s crew as a part of training.
The ship was due to arrive to Murmansk a few days earlier but the weather conditions postponed the arrival date.
The brass orchestra welcomed the barque with march.
Acting Governor Andry Chibis addressed the cadets, noting that return of the barque is a true festival day for the entire Murmansk region and the importance of training aboard the ship for Murmansk cadets cannot be overestimated.
