The ceremony of towing the floating nuclear power unit “Akademik Lomonosov” to the permanent base in the port of Pevek was held at the Atomflot.

The ceremony was attended by the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Northwestern Federal District Alexander Gutsan, Special Presidential Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport Sergei Ivanov, General Director of Rosatom Alexey Likhachev, Governor of Chukotka Roman Kopin, Deputy Governors of the Murmansk region Evgeniy Nikora and Olga Kuznetsova, Deputy General Director – Director of the Directorate of the Northern Sea Route Vyacheslav Ruksha, President of the United Shipbuilding Corporation Alexey Rakhmanov, General Director of Rosenergoatom Andrey Petrov, General Director – General Designer of “Afrikantov OKBM” Dmitry Zverev.

Alexander Gutsan congratulated all those who participated in the development, design and construction of the floating nuclear power unit, which will replace decommissioned power plants and will be one of the key elements of the Northern Sea Route infrastructure development.

Sergei Ivanov called the floating nuclear power unit project one of its kind and expressed hope that such plants will be built further. This will make a positive contribution to improving of the environmental situation in Russia. Alexey Likhachev said that the station is the result of work of all employees, emphasizing the uniqueness and exclusivity of energy parameters, as well as the station efficiency.

On behalf of acting Governor Andrey Chibis, the Government of the Murmansk region and on his own behalf Evgeniy Nikora expressed gratitude to scientists, engineers, shipbuilders, nuclear engineers who took part in the creation of the floating nuclear power unit “Akademik Lomonosov”.
