From 26 till 29 September on the borderland of Russia and Norway will be held the II international festival of environmental and social cinema «Northern Character: green screen».

«Northern Character: green screen» will remind about the common confrontation of Russia and Norway against Nazism. This October is marked with 75th anniversary of Nazi defeat in the Kola north and liberation of Eastern finnmark (Northern Norway) by the Red Army. This memorable date will be timed to coincide with the film screening «Under the stone sky» (USSR, Norway, 1974, Directors: Igor Maslennikov, Knut Andersen).

The festival will be held at the venues of Norwegian Kirkenes and Russian Nickel. In Kirkenes, film screenings can be seen in the Sør-Varanger library and the Samovar theatre. In Nickel it will be in the Central library, the «Pasvik» nature reserve, the art center «Second school» and the recreation center «Voskhod».

12 documentary and short-length films of directors from Russia, Norway, Sweden and Finland were announced for participation in the competition program of the festival.

Also within the framework of the festival a photo exhibition of Alexander Mazurov «Lofoten» and Svetlana Otinoves «Krasota Severa» (Beauty of the North) will be held. Massive entertainment program is prepared for participants, guests, residents of Kirkenes and Nickel: concerts of Norwegian group «Gruppa krovi» (Blood Type), the Russian musical teams “Shish DA Malina” and “Partizan FM”.
