Murmansk ought to become a key logistics base for Arctic shelf development – governor Andrey Chibis stated while visiting Sayan Polaris, multipurpose offshore vessel included into the Prirazlomnoye oil field group. The vessel was constructed in 2018 and additionally modified in 2019. As a result the vessel is equipped for cargo transshipment and rescue operations as well as serves as a comfortable hotel for the workers.
For the time being Sayan Polaris is on its way from Murmansk to the Prirazlomnoye oil field in the Pechora sea for the 3rd time. The vessel’s cargo includes water, diesel fuel, cement and pieces of equipment.
Gazprom Neft Shelf and Marine Arctic Geological Expedition being freighters of the vessel have invited Murmansk region governor Andrey Chibis to visit Sayan Polaris. Aboard the ship governor held a series of negotiations with the chairs of Gazprom Neft Shelf, Marine Arctic Geological Expedition, Sevnor Management, NOVATEK – West Arctic and Marine rescue service of Federal Agency
for Maritime and River Transport.
According to Andrey Chibis the Murmansk region needs a large centralized cluster for shelf projects. In order to do so all the necessary efforts both on federal and regional levels have been already undertaken.
