Andrey Chibis took part in commemorative events to mark the 75th anniversary of Eastern Finnmark liberation

Today Kirkenes, Norway, is hosting commemorative events to mark the 75th anniversary of Eastern Finnmark liberation. List of distinguished guests includes HM King Harald V of Norway, Prime Minister of Norway Erna Solberg, Ministers of foreign affairs of Russia and Norway Sergey Lavrov and Ine Marie Eriksen Søreide respectively. The delegation of the Murmansk region is headed by the governor Andrey Chibis.
Kirkenes was liberated by the Red Army on October 25, 1944 during the Petsamo-Kirkenes offensive. The residents of Kirkenes remain grateful to the Soviet liberators. There was elaborated a detailed program of commemoration including 2-day conference, official meetings, concerts and other events.
On Ocotber 25, 2019 Andrey Chibis met with head of International Barents Secretariat Tomas Hallberg. The Murmansk region is actively involved into the Barents cooperation. Andrey Chibis noted that tourism development is an important cooperation ingredient as well as education, SME and development of comfortable urban environment.
After the meeting Andrey Chibis and the Murmansk region delegation were present at the commemorative ceremony at the central square of Kirkenes. Governor took part in the wreath and flowers laying ceremony at the monument to the Soviet Soldier.
