Governor Andrey Chibis held a working meeting with the Consul General of Norway in Murmansk Ms Astrid Nerum. Parties discussed issues of further socio-economic cooperation, including in the field of external trade.
The Kingdom of Norway is one of the main partners of the Murmansk Region and ranks 5th in 2020 after the Netherlands, Switzerland, Finland and China. Foreign trade turnover increased by 6.2% compared to 2019. Among the key export items to the neighboring country – apatite concentrate, fish, aluminum and lighting equipment prevail. Imports are mainly represented by fish feed, equipment and ships.
Ms Astrid Nerum thanked the governor for the warm welcome and noted the visible transformation of the Arctic region capital over the past few years. According to the Consul General, relations with the northern territories may serve as an example of real good-neighborliness.
And even the global coronavirus pandemic could not significantly affect international cooperation. Joint events switched to an online format during the fight against COVID-19.
