On August 28, 2020, a package of federal laws on state support for entrepreneurial business in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation came into operation. The meeting of the Governor of the Murmansk Region Andrey Chibis with the investors of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation and representatives of the regional media took place on the anniversary of the event, which became a kind of summing up of the provisional results of the "Arctic" benefits in the region.

Head of the region reminded that the Russian Arctic is the largest free economic zone in the world and the Murmansk Region is fully included in it.

According to the governor two more large residents of the zone are expected to appear in the region in the near future. The"Arctic" benefits are claimed by the Norilsk Nickel company project to create a metallurgical production "Big Copper" in Monchegorsk and the Fedorov Tundra platinum deposit development project of JSC Fedorovo Resources.

At the same time Andrey Chibis stressed, that out of 66 projects of the residents of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation in our region 55 are projects of small and medium – sized businesses. This was made possible by lowering the entry level from 10 to 1 million rubles of investment.

Several investors presented their projects that have received or are applying for the status of a resident of the zone. Among them are a panoramic restaurant on the Aikuaivenchorr Mountain, a yacht club in Murmansk, an eco-plant for recycling plastic, the construction of guest houses in Apatity.
