On November 24, in Murmansk, the IV international session "Cooperation in the Arctic" will take place in a hybrid format. The event was organized by the Government of the Murmansk Region with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the International Barents Secretariat. The event will be held under the auspices of the Russian Federation's chairmanship of the Arctic Council in 2021–2023.
The focus this year is the search for optimal approaches to implementing the development priorities of the Arctic region while maintaining a balance in its social, economic and environmental dimensions for the purpose of integrated sustainable development of the Arctic.
The session promises to be extremely eventful and constructive. Participation has already been confirmed by: Konstantin Kosachev - Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the federal Assembly of the Russian Federation; Nikolai Korchunov - Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation; Yuri Bezdudny - Governor of the Nenets Autonomous district; Björn Inge Mu - Chairman of the County Government of Troms and Finnmark; Rune Resaland - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway to the Russian Federation; Antti Helantera - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to the Russian Federation; Aurni Thor Sigurdsson - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iceland to the Russian Federation.
Particular attention will be paid to ecology and green energy. Stephane Zweguintzow, General Director of PJSC Enel Russia, and Evgeny Borzenko, Head of the Kola Division of PJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel, General Director of the Kola Mining and Metallurgical Company.
As part of the program of the international session, a unique exposition of documentary, fiction and popular science literature about the Arctic and Antarctic will be presented by the Paulsen Publishing House, the only publishing house in Russia specializing in this area.
